Ask the seller for proof the repair was completed, or run the free VIN check. Recall repairs are done at no cost by a dealer.
Recalls
Safety issues the manufacturer must repair for free. A recall means confirm the fix was done, not walk away.
Engine recall
If the circuit board were to overheat, it can increase the risk of a fire.
- Remedy
- BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the electric auxiliary water pump, free of charge. Depending on the model, there are currently limited parts available, however not all parts are available at this time. Owners will be notified of the recall beginning June 11, 2018, and will receive a second notification when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact BMW customer service at BMW 1-800-525-7417, MINI at 1-866-825-1525, or Rolls-Royce at 1-877-877-3735. Note: BMW recommends that owners park their vehicle outdoors until the recall remedy has been performed.

The contact owns a 2010 BMW 750LI. The contact stated that upon the start of the engine, a white-colored smoke began to emit from the vehicle without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the engine was leaking both oil and coolant which resulted in engine failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered partial credit towards the cost of a new engine. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE PARKING LOT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY JERKING AROUND AND ENGINE STOPPED. WHEN TRIED TO RUN THE ENGINE IT WAS SHAKING TREMENDOUSLY AND ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING. SO I TOWED IT TO THE DEALER NEXT MORNING FOR REPAIR. AFTER REPAIR WAS DONE WHICH TOOK A WEEK I DROVE IT FOR ABOUT 40 MINUTES AND THEN WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKE IT WAS SHAKING ALOT AGAIN EVERY TIME I WAS APPLYING BRAKE. I FOR SOMEHOW AVOIDING ALL STOP SIGN BY DRIVING CAREFULLY, TOOK THE CAR HOME AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER NEXT MORNING AT WHICH TIME IT WAS SHAKING TREMENDOUSLY OR SOMETIME MOVING FORWARD FAST(JERKING MOVE) WHEN I APPLIED BRAKE OR STEP ON GAS PEDAL. *TR

MY CAR DOORS ARE LOCKED AND CAN'T BE OPENED AT ALL! IN THE PAST, I'VE BEEN LOCKED INSIDE THE CAR AND COULDN'T GET OUT UNLESS I STOP THE CAR, TURN IT OFF, ROLL DOWN MY DRIVER SIDE WINDOW, AND STICK THE KEY IN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR, AND MANUALLY TURN IT TO UNLOCK IT. NOW MY DOORS WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL. MANUALLY OR ELECTRONICALLY. NONE OF THEM. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE A SEVEN YEAR OLD SON THAT RIDES WITH ME IN MY CAR ALL THE TIME. THESE VEHICLES NEED TO BE RECALLED AND TAKEN OFF OF THE STREETS FOR GOOD. THEY'RE ARE POTENTIAL DEATH TRAPS!

How does it compare with other years? The 2010 has 30 complaints on file, more than the 2011 (25). That is the most of the 3 model years of the BMW 750li we cover. Older model years have had longer to collect complaints.
