Recalls
Safety issues the manufacturer must repair for free. A recall means confirm the fix was done, not walk away.
No recalls on record for this model
No safety recalls were found in this dataset. It is still worth entering the exact VIN on NHTSA before purchase, since recalls can be added at any time.

The car was purchased on [XXX]. On [XXX]—only six days after purchasing the car—it failed to accelerate through an intersection while turning left in front of oncoming cars. Less than a week later, on [XXX], the car again failed to accelerate as it slowed down entering a rotary on [XXX] . The same thing happened again on [XXX] as it was driven out of the Savannah Bend Marina, turning left onto [XXX] , and yet again on [XXX] while driving around a traffic circle on [XXX] . On [XXX], the car once again failed to accelerate when attempting to clear an intersection on [XXX] Pooler, a Savannah suburb. On [XXX], after starting the car in the garage, it obviously had a problem running while idling. Backing out of the carport and pulling out onto the street, it barely responded. Even after the accelerator was practically floored, the car would go only about 35 miles per hour. On [XXX], the car yet again delayed in accelerating while turning left onto [XXX] from [XXX] . As it turned left and the accelerator was pressed down, the car slowly inched forward for a few seconds before finally accelerating and clearing the intersection, barely averting a collision with oncoming traffic. The dealership has had multiple attempts to repair the defect, but it has been unable to locate or remedy the defect. 2026 Genesis G70 2.5T RWD. The navigation system is completely gone. There is absolutely no way to get the maps or even the navigation settings menu up. On every startup, you can see a part of the screen which shows it tries to load navigation, but fails every time. There are a few critical safety issues with this. To start, a main feature of the Adaptive Cruise Control is relying on GPS map data to anticipate sharp bends in the highway. If the navigation system cannot provide this layout data, the adaptive cruise control will not automatically slow down for upcoming curves, forcing the driver to intervene suddenly or risk carrying too much speed into a turn. Missing speed limits: If the navigation system fails, the car may display the wrong speed limit, or none at all, increasing the risk of accidental speeding or sudden braking when a camera finally catches a sign. Reliance on phones: If the primary infotainment screen is dead or the GPS is frozen, drivers frequently resort to handling a smartphone to find their way. Looking down at a phone screen significantly increases glances away from the road, which is a leading cause of distracted-driving accidents. Delayed Emergency Response: Connected safety services use the car’s internal GPS module to automatically broadcast the vehicle’s exact coordinates to emergency responders in the event of a severe collision or airbag deployment. If the GPS framework within the navigation system is entirely non-functional, the vehicle may fail to transmit this critical location data or provide incorrect data when every second counts. This problem has been reproduced by dealers and many other owners. The manufacturer is aware but has not provided any details. Most people who have already took it to the dealer have not received any help. This happened directly due to the most recent software update.

While driving at highway speeds (55–73 mph), the vehicle has repeatedly and unexpectedly applied the brakes on its own and on at least one occasion experienced a loss of power. These events occurred without any vehicles, pedestrians, or obstacles present, and without any driver input. Road and weather conditions did not warrant braking. On multiple occasions, the vehicle suddenly decelerated while adaptive cruise control was engaged, then immediately re-accelerated back to the set speed. This created a serious risk of being rear-ended or involved in a high-speed collision. On one occasion, the vehicle experienced a loss of power while driving at highway speed, requiring immediate driver intervention to avoid a dangerous situation. These incidents make the vehicle feel unpredictable and unsafe to operate as intended. I regularly transport family members, and these failures place my safety and the safety of others at significant risk of serious injury or death. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Genesis dealership on two separate occasions. Despite extended road testing, the dealership has stated they were unable to reproduce the issue and no permanent repair has been performed. The manufacturer has been notified, and the defect remains unresolved. No warning lights or messages were present prior to the incidents. The failures occur suddenly and without advance indication.

This complaint is a follow-up to NHTSA Complaints #11714226 and #11730299 regarding the same unresolved safety defect. Since those complaints were filed, the vehicle has now been involved in a SECOND defect-related crash. I repeatedly begged Genesis not to return this vehicle to me because I believed it was unsafe to drive. They refused to state the vehicle was safe or unsafe. No risk to them.Genesis scheduled a fourth repair attempt, took possession of the vehicle, but did not repair or even diagnose the steering and braking defects before returning it to me. Despite my repeated warnings that someone could be seriously injured or killed, I was forced to continue driving a vehicle that was unsafe. On June 24, 2026, while traveling approximately 20 mph, the vehicle suddenly veered right. The steering became unresponsive, and the brakes behaved abnormally, causing me to leave the roadway and fly into a ditch. I struck my head, and this crash closely mirrored the first defect-related crash on March 29, 2026. This occurred after four repair opportunities and after Genesis had actual knowledge of the repeated steering and braking failures. The defects remained unresolved when the vehicle was returned to me. NHTSA states that “vehicle safety is the top priority” and encourages consumers to report defects that create “an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety.” I believe this vehicle presents exactly that type of ongoing safety risk. Two crashes involving the same unresolved steering and braking defects should warrant immediate review. I am also undergoing cancer treatment and have recently developed heart palpitations. The stress of repeatedly being placed in a vehicle I warned was unsafe is unacceptable. My life, my passengers’ lives, and the safety of the public are at risk. Please associate this complaint with NHTSA Complaints #11714226 and #11730299 and investigate these recurring steering and braking failures before someone is seriously injured or killed.
