Component/System that failed or malfunctioned: Power Train: automatic transmission internal (CVT). The vehicle stops responding to acceleration, remains static while the engine continues at high revolutions, without generating forward movement. The component is available for inspection upon request. How safety was put at risk: The incident occurred while driving on the highway. By losing acceleration power and not being able to maintain the required speed according to traffic laws, I was at risk of being struck by other vehicles traveling at normal highway speed. This situation posed an immediate danger to both myself and other drivers. Problem reproduction/confirmation: The dealership inspected the vehicle and informed me that, at this time, there is no safety bulletin related to my unit. Inspection by third parties: I have scheduled an appointment with the dealership for September 5, 2025, where a more detailed evaluation of the problem is expected to be performed. Warning signs or prior symptoms: When the failure occurs, several warning lights illuminate on the dashboard and then turn off. Timeline / first occurrence: The failure occurred on August 14, 2025, at 9,215 miles. Related campaign reference: There is an existing NHTSA recall campaign for the same vehicle model: NHTSA Campaign ID: 23V588000

Vehicle Power Loss and System Malfunctions I am writing to formally express my concern regarding a recurring and potentially dangerous issue with my vehicle, 2023 Honda Accord Hybrid. Twice while driving, the vehicle suddenly shut down on the freeway and completely lost power. In both cases, I was fortunately able to steer the car to the shoulder of the road, but this posed a serious safety risk. During these incidents, multiple system error messages appeared on the dashboard, including alerts related to braking, lane departure, and other critical functions. Alarmingly, this same issue has also occurred while the vehicle was parked in my garage. Each time, the only way to temporarily resolve the issue has been to shut off the vehicle and restart it. Upon restarting, the only remaining warning is related to the braking system, along with a prompt to bring the car to the dealership. If the vehicle is restarted again, all error messages disappear. I have contacted my dealership after each occurrence and brought the vehicle in for inspection. My car is currently at the dealership, and I am awaiting information on the cause of the problem and the proposed resolution. After the first time it happened, I have taken video/pictures of the errors and supplied same to the dealership. I consider this a serious safety concern—not only for myself but also for any passengers and other drivers on the road. Quite honestly, I am now afraid to drive the car, knowing that it could unexpectedly shut down at any moment without warning.

Left a store on a frontage rd, drove about 1/2 mile , car just breaking out of no where, stoped in the middle of the road, the dash stated breaking malfunction see Dealer immidentaly car died, I restatred it , the dash still stated the same , the picture of the car had back lights flashing and the red Break sign was on , Took it to the nearest dealer and when they started it the warning system had erased. They inspected it, told me that they could not find anything wrong. I just leased it 2wks ago and only have driven it 3 times , not even a hundred miles and this happens. There were no warning signs of any kind . If I would have been approaching the freeway I could have been killed.

I am reporting what I believe may be a safety defect involving my 2023 Honda Hybrid. I owned the vehicle for less than three years and kept up with all recommended maintenance. During my ownership, I repeatedly experienced sudden tire pressure warnings and rapid drops in tire pressure. Because I was concerned, I took my vehicle to a Honda dealership approximately four to five weekends in a row to have the tires inspected. Each time I was told that everything appeared to be normal and no problem could be identified. In March 2026, while driving on the freeway to school, the tire pressure suddenly dropped again. I then heard a very loud popping noise and initially believed that my tire had blown out. Immediately afterward, I lost control of the vehicle and crashed, and my car was declared a total loss. After the crash, I observed that the wheel had turned inward. I was later told by the responding police officers that the wheel had turned inward rather than the tire simply blowing out. I decided to report this because I have learned of other people with the same model who described similar problems involving sudden tire pressure loss or repeated tire warnings despite being told by dealerships that nothing was wrong. While I cannot verify the cause of those incidents, the similarities make me concerned that there could be an underlying safety issue affecting other vehicles. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether there may be a defect involving the tires, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), suspension, steering, or another related component. I am willing to provide any additional information requested. Also I don't know if this was the correct channel to go through, I have never reported something like this before. I also send Honda a longer email detailing everything, so I hope they are aware of this issue. Please contact me if you have more questions, I want to help any way I can. This is in reference to the current recall on my vehicle for the front seatbelts. I have called a few dealerships over the last few months trying to get it fixed. At first they said there was no info about what to do, then followed by the "theres no parts" right now so there's nothing that can be done. I was able to finally take it in to get fixed as the service advisor told me that they are able to fix it. A few days passed and they told me "actually we dont have the parts to fix it" and told me that they wouldn't even test if it passed or failed (needing repair or not) becuase if it failed they would not be able to give me the car back for safety concerns. If it is such a safety concern then I believe that I shouldn't be driving the car at all. I just have to "deal with it" and take the risk that my car might or might not be affected and in turn if I get in an accident it could cause me more harm. I feel that at this point, about 6 months after the recall was announced, if it cannot be fixed the car as whole needs to be recalled / bought back and not put customers in a position to keep wondering when this is going to get fixed.

From the beginning of my lease, the vehicle experienced repeated malfunctions of its safety and proximity sensor systems, including warning alerts and sensor-related failures. The vehicle was taken multiple times to an authorized Honda dealership for diagnosis and repair. Despite these repeated service visits, the safety sensor issues were never properly repaired or resolved. I later discovered that the vehicle was subject to an active safety recall, which was never disclosed to me, even though the vehicle was serviced at the dealership on multiple occasions. Subsequently, the vehicle was involved in an accident that resulted in a total loss. Based on the unresolved sensor failures and the undisclosed recall, I believe these safety defects may have contributed to the accident. This complaint is submitted to report a serious safety concern and to request that NHTSA investigate whether similar vehicles may present a broader safety risk.

Is 140 complaints a lot? They were filed between 2023 and 2026, roughly 42 a year, which is more than the typical model in this dataset. We do not have sales figures for this model, so treat this as a rough volume, not a rate per car on the road. Popular, high-volume models naturally collect more complaints over time.
