Airbags recall

Confirm it was repairedRecall 16V722000 · Oct 2016

In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger frontal air bag, the disconnected OCS would, by default, cause the first stage, and only the first stage, of the air bag to deploy, whether there is a child seat in the front seat and the bag should not deploy or if the crash is severe and both stages should deploy. Either scenario increases the risk of injury to the front seat occupant.

Remedy
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will secure the OCS connector to prevent it from disconnecting, free of charge. Parts are not currently available and a second letter will be sent to owners when parts are available. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 151.

Is 69 complaints a lot? They were filed between 2016 and 2025, roughly 7 a year, which is about the same as the typical model in this dataset. We do not have sales figures for this model, so treat this as a rough volume, not a rate per car on the road. Popular, high-volume models naturally collect more complaints over time.

How does it compare with other years? The 2013 has 69 complaints on file, more than the 2012 (10) and more than the 2015 (16). That is the most of the 5 model years of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe we cover. Older model years have had longer to collect complaints.
