Safety issues the manufacturer must repair for free. A recall means confirm the fix was done, not walk away.

On February 27th, 2026, around 2:00 PM, while driving my 2024 Infinity QX60 on Hwy. 459 in Birmingham, AL, at approximately 70 mph in heavy traffic, the engine suddenly shut down completely and shifted into neutral without any prior warning lights, noises, or symptoms. I had great difficulty figuring out what had happened, and struggled to avoid being hit while crossing over three lanes to coast to the shoulder. I attempted to put the car back into drive without success and was absolutely terrified as I barely missed being hit by an 18-wheeler traveling behind me at a high rate of speed. The car was shuddering, but I managed to drive a short distance to the Birmingham Nissan dealer. After an inspection, they stated it was due to an improperly installed air filter that interfered with the MAF, and I was told I had to pay 1,000 for repairs. The Forward Collision warning sensor went out after the MAF was repaired, but the car was released to us. We had to take it right back to the dealer and leave it again.

On August 10, 2026, my 2024 INFINITI QX60 unexpectedly locked while the Intelligent Key was still inside the vehicle, trapping my two young children inside on a hot day. The Intelligent Key was inside my purse on the front passenger seat. The purse also contained my phone, house keys, and another vehicle key fob. There were no large metallic objects in the purse. I was closing the passenger-side rear door when I heard the vehicle lock. My hand may have contacted the exterior rear-door handle/lock sensor while closing the door, but I cannot be certain. I did not intentionally lock the vehicle. Because two young children were trapped inside in hot weather, a friend called 911. Firefighters responded and opened the vehicle. After returning home, we attempted to reproduce the incident, but the vehicle correctly prevented us from locking it with the Intelligent Key inside. Therefore, I am concerned about a possible intermittent failure of the Intelligent Key detection/lockout protection system. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by an INFINITI dealer. I have reported the incident to INFINITI Consumer Affairs and plan to have the vehicle inspected by an authorized INFINITI dealer. There were no warning lights or warning messages before the incident that I am aware of. The vehicle is available for inspection. This incident created a serious safety risk because two young children were trapped inside a locked vehicle in hot weather and emergency intervention by the fire department was required.

To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this letter to formally report a safety-related defect involving my leased Infiniti vehicle, serviced at Edison Infiniti in New Jersey on August 1, 2025. Despite reporting excessive tire wear and a persistent pull to the right, the dealership concluded that the alignment was within factory specifications and attributed the damage solely to a lack of tire rotation. Based on this assessment, I paid out of pocket for a wheel alignment and replacement tires. However, the condition of the removed front tires tells a different story. The tires show extreme treadwear down to the internal cords, a clear indication of prolonged misalignment or defective suspension geometry. This level of degradation is not consistent with normal wear and tear on a vehicle with fewer than 17,000 miles. It compromised steering control and posed a serious safety risk, making it difficult to maintain lane position and safe handling. I believe this issue may reflect a broader defect in alignment or suspension geometry that could affect other vehicles of the same make and model. I have attempted resolution through the dealership and Infiniti Consumer Affairs without success. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this issue as a potential safety defect and advise on next steps.

Our granddaughter was in the 3rd row seat with a seat belt. We think she put the shoulder part behind her back. After she unbuckled, she tried to exit but the seat belt ILR locked her in. The seat belt wrapped around her waist and locked her in. She could not move - or get out. We tried for 30 mins and finally cut the seat belt. If we had had an accident, we could not have gotten her out. Pictures/video's can be downloaded:Here is a link to the Video’s and Pictures. The liftgate is not merely a matter of inconvenience. Its repeated failure directly interferes with my ability to enter, exit, and safely use the vehicle. I am concerned that the liftgate could also fail during an emergency or close, latch, or operate unpredictably. Right after we first bought the vehicle, we brought it in due to the hatch not opening, approx. Aug. 2024. They said to shove a screwdriver into the hatch to get it working again. It's also listed in their vehicle booklet that is given to you when you buy the SUV. That doesn't mean there is a recall but it's pretty darn close. They want me to wiggle into the back of the vehicle and jam a screwdriver into who knows where. I would love to see them do this without upper body strength and non-working legs. The vehicle has also experienced additional problems, including malfunctioning alarms, electrical issues, and other recurring defects. I have something called vehicle assist, it doesn't work. Alarms are supposed to go off if you leave your lane and pull you back into your original lane. No, you drift accross three lanes. Some problems have returned after attempted repairs. The vehicle has reportedly been presented for repair approximately three times and has been unavailable or out of service for an extraordinary amount of time, approximately 300 plus days in total. Today my caretaker was to take me to a VA and to the pharmacy to get my meds.
