Safety issues the manufacturer must repair for free. A recall means confirm the fix was done, not walk away.

No recalls on record for this model

No safety recalls were found in this dataset. It is still worth entering the exact VIN on NHTSA before purchase, since recalls can be added at any time.

The contact owns a 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that within a week of purchasing the vehicle new, there was an abnormally strong odor coming from the vehicle. The dealer picked up the vehicle and performed an engine cleaning; however, the failure recurred within days. The contact stated that the low coolant warning light was frequently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that no issue was found. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where coolant was added to the vehicle, and the contact had frequently added coolant to the vehicle as needed. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where several coolant leaks were found. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to Land Rover Charlotte (6710 E Independence Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28212), where it was diagnosed that the inner coolant had leaked into the engine, and there were metal shavings found in the oil. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact stated that the vehicle was diagnosed after the warranty had expired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V044000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and previously offered several vouchers for the repairs. The failure mileage was unknown.

I was driving my vehicle on a California freeway and it stopped at traffic signal that was red. When the light turned green and my vehicle accelerated forward the vehicle system powered down in the middle of traffic. I had the vehicle towed to a local mechanic who identified two potential causes for my vehicle powering down and one of the items referenced was the recalled dc converter. I had the vehicle towed to my local Land Rover dealership and they confirmed that a faulty dc converter was the cause. Land Rover is asking for me to purchase a new dc converter at a cost of $3,000 that is currently under recall and they are unwilling to wave the cost of the repair leaving the vehicle inoperable. I asked the Land Rover dealership to give me a quote to purchase the inoperable vehicle from me and the offered a wholesale price acknowledging that they are unwilling to pay market value because of the recall with no remedy but when a remedy is found they might be willing to purchase at current market value. I suspect the dealerships motive is to purchase my car at a wholesale price, replace the recalled part with another recalled part and sell at a outsized profit will leaving me underwater with a lender.

The braking system keeps repeatedly failing. I have numerous times been driving when the braking system locks, leaving the car uncapable of securing a safe stop at any given moment. In 2024, the vehicle was serviced at Landrover Englewood, NJ where I paid for repairs. The same problem yet again emerged causing the risk of potential accident on September 1, 2026 while driving on the local city roadways. The following dashboard error messages came on my screen: "Hill Descent Control not available", "OK to drive with caution Stability control not available," and there was a third (?) message that I did not capture in time. These signs have intermittently popped up on my dash over the past few years and when brought to Mt. Kisco (seller) dealerships attention, was told by the service manager at the time that this was not an issue to be concerned with. The vehicle is currently in the landrover Edison NJ shop again due to the SAME BRAKE FAILURE/ISSUE I EXPERIENCED IN 2024, but yes, is available for inspection upon request. I launched an email back in 2024 (copy is available at your request) regarding this same issue to the landrover dealer and attorney generals office highlighting the safety risk, as I was traveling on the turnpike (the most concerning, heart dropping, life threatening experience) amongst other public roadways when I experienced this life threatening safety concern. I had to think immediately and shift the vehicle into park mode while driving because the vehicles brakes locked and failed to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was eventually fully inspected by the Mt. Kisco landrover service center and returned back to me, deemed safe in 2024. No other inspections from any other parties, to my knowledge, have been made.

Due to the poor underbody shielding on these vehicles, the entire hydraulic system (lines, fitting, pumps, etc) of the Active Cornering Enhancement (ACE) system had severely corroded and must be replaced. If this system fails, you lose your air suspension and makes the car unsafe in turning while driving causing you to lose control over your vehicle. My independent service center quote is for $10,000 (which is cheaper than Land Rover ~$15k). There is an active "suspension sensor failure" that does activate in the car, but this can be bypassed by the driver potentially causing more harm while driving. This issue is consistently the #1 or #2 issues with these Range Rover Sports and other Land Rover vehicles. There is no active recall for this major design flaw and there should be.

The contact owned a 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30-35 MPH, another vehicle that was driving at high speeds in the opposite direction had lost control and crashed into her driver's side front and rear doors. The other vehicle then crashed into another vehicle. It resulted in a three-vehicle collision. The air bags deployed and the contact suffered a chemical burn on her left arm from the side air bag deployment. There was smoke that filled the cabin of the vehicle. The contact was unable to unlock the doors while the master door lock button was pushed. EMS and the fire department arrived on the scene and were able to rescue the contact after opening the passenger's side front door. A police report was filed. The contact was transported by ambulance to the hospital and sustained second-degree burns to her left arm and bruising on the right hip and the left shoulder. However, there were no bones fractured. She later suffered from nausea, pain from head to toe, and delayed memory. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

Is 42 complaints a lot? They were filed between 2019 and 2026, roughly 6 a year, which is more than the typical model in this dataset. We do not have sales figures for this model, so treat this as a rough volume, not a rate per car on the road. Popular, high-volume models naturally collect more complaints over time.
