Recalls
Safety issues the manufacturer must repair for free. A recall means confirm the fix was done, not walk away.

"My 2020 Range Rover Velar (VIN: [XXX], 68,424 miles) has an electronic rotary gear selector showing signs of failure consistent with a widely reported defect in this vehicle line. The shift-by-wire module uses an internal circuit board known for weak solder joints, causing the dial to become stuck and unable to select or exit a gear (fault code P176C-11 in some cases). This is documented across multiple Land Rover/Range Rover models (2013–2023 Range Rover, 2018–2023 Velar, 2017–2023 Discovery). If a vehicle becomes stuck in Drive or Park unexpectedly, it poses a real safety risk, especially since this is a shift-by-wire system with no mechanical backup linkage. No recall currently covers this specific failure mode, despite it being common enough that it supports a thriving specialist repair/rebuild industry. I am filing this complaint to document the pattern for NHTSA's records." INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

MY CHILD WAS TANGLED IN THE REAR SEAT BELT WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED. EVERY TIME WE TRIED TO GET SOME EXTRA SLACK IN THE SEAT BELT IT WOULD CONTINUE TO GET TIGHTER AND SQUEEZE HER AROUND HER WAIST. THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RELEASE EVEN AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF THE BELT CONTINUED TO STAY LOCKED AND ANY SLACK WOULD BE PULLED INTO THE CHAMBER TO PUT HER IN TIGHTER PAIN. THE ONLY WAY TO FREE HER FROM THE CAR WAS TO CUT THE SEAT BELT THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECT IN THE SAFETY PORTION OF THE CAR.

I'm writing to report a serious safety issue with my 2020 Range Rover Velar's power tailgate. While I was inside the cargo area, the tailgate began closing on its own/unexpectedly. On a separate occasion, it closed on my [XXX] son while he was in the cargo area-I had to push him out of the way to prevent him from being crushed. Shortly after these incidents, the tailgate/latch actuator stopped functioning entirely. I took the vehicle to the dealer who quoted approximately $1300 to replace the latch assembly. Given that this malfunction has put my child at risk of serious injury, I'd like to ask: 1. Is there an open Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for tailgate latch/actuator issues on the 2020 Velar? 2. Would Land Rover consider a goodwill or policy adjustment to cover or offset this repair given the severity of the safety failure? 3. Can this incident be logged as a formal safety concern for review given the risk to a minor? The vehicle was purchased from Land Rover-Las Vegas on Roy Horn. I have also filed the complaint with Land Rover Customer Service. Thank you so much. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
