Several problems have occurred, not sure if they are related or not. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. In my opinion as a retired mechanic the problem components might include transmission, torque converter, accelerator or any electrical components associated with these systems. There were no warning lamps or messages related to the situation before or since. The following are my descriptions of the two issues: 1) In every day around town driving, mostly at lower speeds or after coasting, the transmission jerks, stutters and chugs. The sensation feels exactly like driving with a manual trans and trying to start from a stop in third gear. Related or not, it also seems to have a rough and jerky downshift as the vehicle slows down to stop. It happens EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR, not just occasionally. 2) On a few other occasions, I stepped on the accelerator and got no response. One time I was at highway speed, let off to coast in traffic and got no response when I went to accelerate again. It felt like the transmission slipped into neutral or the ECM got no signal from the accelerator. I let off the accelerator and stepped on it again and it did accelerate the second time. In another situation, I was on a four-lane road attempting to turn left across two lanes of oncoming traffic. I was in a left turn lane on a green light, stopped and waiting for traffic to clear before starting to make my turn. As I let off the brake and started rolling to make my turn, an oncoming car changed lanes causing me to let off the gas momentarily. I was now into an oncoming traffic lane and when I went to accelerate the car did nothing. In fear of a head on collision I started to panic and stepped on the gas again with no response and then on a second attempt it did accelerate and I safely made my turn with horns blowing at me from the other car. That situation scared me half to death. Wickstrom Lincoln and Napleton Lincoln in Illinois have been unable to resolve.

The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Not often, but at least 1-2 times a year at slow speeds, the brakes fail to function. The pedal feels odd, and unresponsive usually under 5mph parking lot type speeds. Have to place car in park in order for it to stop. Had to dealer when I first got it almost 3yrs ago but they were unable ro duplicate. Restarting the car resolved issue for the instance and it could be a year before it happens again. It’s scary, Google search brings this issue right up with a lot of complaints. This sounds like a future recall.

On February 5, 2026, the vehicle was involved in an accident in which the driver side was struck by another vehicle as it went through an intersection. The other vehicle was going approximately 40 mph when it impacted my vehicle. The driver side was impacted hard enough that the door would not open, yet none of the airbags went off. When the vehicle was towed to a collision repair center, the owner upon completing an estimate said he believed the airbags had malfunctioned, as the side airbags definitely should have gone off, and potentially the front ones should have, too. The vehicle is currently still at the collision center, but insurance has determined it to be a total loss and will be taking possession at some point in the near future.

The contact stated that the windshield wipers were intermittently inoperable while driving. Two dealers were contacted and confirmed that parts were not available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 24,300.
