Car Defect Radar
Built from NHTSA complaints and recalls collected for this model, generated September 22, 2026. Totals reflect what has been collected, not every complaint ever filed.

Recalls

0 total

Safety issues the manufacturer must repair for free. A recall means confirm the fix was done, not walk away.

No recalls on record for this model

No safety recalls were found in this dataset. It is still worth entering the exact VIN on NHTSA before purchase, since recalls can be added at any time.

Yesterday, while driving home on a surface street, I experienced a sudden loss of drive power, multiple dashboard warning lights, and violent shaking throughout the vehicle, creating a significant safety hazard for both me and surrounding motorists. It is fortunate that this did not occur at highway speeds. The shaking was so intense that the head-up display on the windshield was visibly vibrating, and when I arrived home ( driving the one mile at less than 35 mph as indicated on the dash), I discovered that one of the rear seats had folded itself down. The other likely remained upright only because a child booster seat was installed there (fortunately unoccupied). The vehicle currently has 161 miles on the odometer, including pre-delivery mileage and is undrivable.

Vehicle was driving at 50-55 MPH on [XXX] . The vehicle immediately gave multiple warning systems such as "Dream Drive Unavailable" "Regenerative Braking unavailable, use brake pedal" "Hold unavailable" "Dynamic handling unavailable" "Car will Power off in 5 minutes" and the car started applying the breaks and went into a "turtle" mode. It went from 50 miles per hour down to 35 miles per hour in the middle of the road with traffic. I had my three children, my wife, my grandmother, and my aunt in the car with me. We were almost rear ended, but we were able to move to the side and take the backroads to the house as we were 1 mile away. The car refused to drive after the 5 minute count down, and a tow company took the car to the Lucid dealership. Since 5/15/2026, the car has been at the same spot in the dealership, as they also have not been able to turn it on. They're also unable to look at it, due to a large amount of issues they have with other cars and lack of staff. The car is undriveable, has safety issues, and almost caused an accident with 7 passengers in the car. I would like Lucid to buy back the car, pay me back my down payment, and reimburse my last month of payment as I haven't been able to drive the car. They also have no timeline to when they will be able to look at the car, or repair it. Other users experience similar issues with the Lucid Gravity 2026 model, and numerous reports are online. On XXX while driving approximately 170 miles along the [XXX] corridor from [XXX] to [XXX], the vehicle’s Hands-Free driver assistance system (Highway Assist / DreamDrive) suffered three critical, unprovoked disengagements, creating severe near-miss rear-end hazards. Prior to the trip, I had intentionally disabled the automatic lane change feature due to known unreliability, relying only on Hands-Free lane centering and speed control while performing manual lane changes myself. Despite this, the system failed catastrophically three times: Incident 1 (Heavy Rain): Driving in torrential rain where the windshield wipers failed to adequately clear the glass. With no vehicles ahead but traffic actively following behind, the Hands-Free system abruptly disengaged and caused immediate unexpected deceleration. In extremely poor visibility on a high-speed interstate, this sudden slowdown created an immediate rear-end collision hazard. Incident 2 (Passing Lane Maneuver): While driving around 70–75 mph in a 65 mph zone to complete a standard overtaking maneuver in the passing lane, the system suddenly dumped steering and speed control mid-maneuver with traffic fast approaching from behind. I had to instantly intervene to prevent a collision and keep control of the vehicle. Incident 3 (Unprovoked Disengagement): On an open, straight highway segment with clear weather, no road construction, no lane obstruction, and no surrounding vehicles, the system abruptly disengaged for no identifiable reason. A driver-assist system in a 3-row family vehicle that unpredictably disengages in adverse weather, mid-overtake, and on clear open highways poses an unreasonable risk of severe rear-end crashes. This constitutes a critical safety defect that requires immediate federal investigation. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I had three children in the vehicle getting out. Two in the second row and one in the third row. I walked away from the car with the key in my pocket and my two children in the second row closed the door on the child in the third row before she got out. Because my key was in my pocket and i was far away from the vehicle, the car locked when the doors shut. My child in the third row climbed into the second row and attempted to open the door--she could not open any of the rear doors. The child locks were not activated, and there is no way to open the rear doors when the car is locked. I tried this with my older child, thinking my younger child was not strong enough to manually open the doors when they were locked and the key was away, and she could not do it either. There is no way for a child to get out of the car if they accidentally close the doors on themselves, the key is not nearby, and the car locks. This is an EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD. This Lucid has many electrical glitches, but this is the first one that i have come across that now makes me nervous to own the car. Having child locks activated is a different story, but if those are turned off, anyone should be able to exit the vehicle when it is on or off if they are locked in the car. Children can become trapped and when this happens there can be severe consequences, especially in the summer time.

Is 14 complaints a lot? They were filed between 2026 and 2026, roughly 14 a year, which is more than the typical model in this dataset. We do not have sales figures for this model, so treat this as a rough volume, not a rate per car on the road. Popular, high-volume models naturally collect more complaints over time.
