Recalls
Safety issues the manufacturer must repair for free. A recall means confirm the fix was done, not walk away.

The contact owns a 2026 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds on several occasions with the cruise control engaged, the cruise control disengaged independently, and the vehicle decelerated quickly. The contact stated that the failure mostly occurred while driving uphill. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the failure was not duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 4,700.

While driving North on I79 in dayligh I attempted to engage adaptive cruse control. The indicator lights on the dashboard were too dim to be visible and I was unable to tell if cruise control was on or determine what the speed setting was. After successfully engaging the control using buttons on the steering wheel the truck began accellerating strongly. I was unable to tell what the speed setting was but it must have been in excess of 80 mph as I had to turn the control off at that point. I returned truck to dealer and was told that lack of brightness for this indicator (and several others, such as turn signal indicators) was a design issue and could not be repaired by the dealer. I have tried every remidy I could find, even had the dealer's sales person take pictures of the dash while driving to verify the issue.

I own a new 2026 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X equipped with the original Hankook Dynapro AT2 tires. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, I began experiencing a noticeable vibration at highway speeds, primarily between approximately 70 and 78 mph. The vibration is most noticeable around 72-74 mph and can be felt through the vehicle, particularly through the seat. I brought the vehicle to a Nissan dealership for diagnosis. The dealer determined that one of the tires had an issue they described as a broken or defective internal belt. During road-force balancing, the affected tire measured approximately 41 lbs of road force, which is significantly higher than expected. The tire was still relatively new and was original equipment on the vehicle. I contacted the tire manufacturer regarding warranty replacement, but Hankook would not authorize replacement without the tire first being removed and returned for inspection. I was told I would need to purchase a replacement tire myself and then potentially seek reimbursement after Hankook inspected the defective tire. My concern is that an internal belt defect in a nearly new original-equipment tire could present a safety risk, particularly because the problem becomes apparent at normal interstate highway speeds. The vehicle has not been involved in an accident or impact that would reasonably explain this type of internal tire damage. I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA is aware of the potential tire defect in case similar failures are occurring on other vehicles equipped with these tires.

Aftermarket vehicle equipment (Rough Country Hard Tri-Fold Flip Up Bed Cover, SKU: 49520551A) suffered a catastrophic structural hardware failure while traveling at highway speeds (approx. 70 MPH) on the interstate. Both the primary latching clamps and the factory-installed secondary safety retention straps failed simultaneously under standard operating conditions. The entire cover detached from the vehicle and launched into the roadway, creating an immediate, severe collision hazard for trailing motorists. Physical inspection of the truck bed afterwards revealed the mounting rails remained securely attached to the truck, but the integrated screw-handle anchoring hardware on the cover itself had completely failed and sheared off.
