TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TRIUMPH THUNDERBIRD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVE BELT WORE PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE BELT AND PULLEY WERE REPLACED YET THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE BELT WOULD FRACTURE, CAUSING THE WHEELS TO LOCK. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT ACCEPTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8,500.

TRIUMPH 2010 THUNDERBIRD MODELS HAVE DEFECTIVE SPEEDOMETERS THAT STICK OFTEN AND AT TIMES ARE VERY ERRATIC. IN EITHER CASE THE VEHICLE'S SPEED CANNOT BE MONITORED BY THE DRIVER. TRIUMPH HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM FOR SOME TIME BUT THEY HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL AND CONTINUE TO SELL THESE MOTORCYCLES KNOWING THE SPEEDOMETERS ARE DEFECTIVE. *TR
