Additionally, the contact stated that while her sister was attempting to park downhill, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated temporarily and responded as needed. The contact also stated that while driving on the Golden Gate Bridge at an undisclosed speed and approaching a toll, the contact decelerated to 25 MPH, but the vehicle suddenly accelerated, and the passenger's side of the vehicle struck the guardrail. There were no warning lights illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. There was no injury sustained. No police report was filed. No further information was available. The contact stated that she was concerned for her safety because the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The local dealer was not contacted because the dealer had closed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and referred the contact to the auto finance company for assistance. 2024 VinFast VF8 – Repeated Sudden Loss of Propulsion at Highway Speeds My 2024 VinFast VF8 has experienced three separate incidents of sudden loss of propulsion while being driven at highway speeds. On August 1, 2026, while traveling at approximately 80 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion. I was able to maneuver the vehicle to the side of the roadway. The vehicle restarted after approximately 15 minutes. A “12V Battery Fault” warning was displayed. On August 2, 2026, while traveling at approximately 80 mph, the vehicle again suddenly lost propulsion. I was able to maneuver the vehicle out of active traffic. The vehicle restarted after approximately 15 minutes. On September 2, 2026, while traveling at approximately 60 mph, the vehicle experienced a third sudden loss of propulsion. I was able to maneuver the vehicle off the roadway. The vehicle did not restart and remains completely inoperable. The vehicle displayed the warning: “12V Battery Charge fault: The vehicle may not restart after shutting down. Please contact VinFast Service Center for assistance.” These repeated propulsion failures created a serious safety hazard because they occurred unexpectedly at highway speeds and required me to maneuver the vehicle out of active traffic without normal propulsion. No collision or injury occurred. The cause of the repeated propulsion loss is currently unknown. The vehicle has not yet been inspected or diagnosed by VinFast or an authorized service facility because VinFast has been unable to arrange transportation of the inoperable vehicle for service. The vehicle remains completely inoperable and is available for inspection upon request. VinFast has been notified of the issue through Roadside Assistance case #04426960.

The forward collision warning keeps faulting. The software sends incorrect errors and shuts off some of the safety features when doing so. The steering wheel is stuck in the 'exit' position, meaning it's retracted and in the highest position, making it difficult to maneuver. Various alarms randomly sound for no reason. The car has had multiple software updates and the problems remain persistent.
